wow – what can I say?
I’ll expand on this in a later entry, but before I slip into a coma I wanted
to say THANK YOU to everyone who helped make my Christmas miracle
happen. You have no idea how cool it is to have people do something like that
for you.
For those who don’t know, I got an
XBox
for Christmas. So far, that’s amazing enough. But that box was purchased by a
groups of some of kindest people I know, online and off … it is simply amazing
to me that so many people would be so generous. And to those who wished to be
part of it but couldn’t – thank you for thinking of me anyway!
You know,
Girl2 has never been a business first for me or the girls. We use it for
many things, and yes, the money is nice when it happens but the concept was
originally created to give us a place to experiment with so many elements of
media – audio, video and design… as well as have fun and show off a little. I
think we have done that, and we learned an enormous amount we have applied to
other areas.
Along the way, we developed a community of friends. We aren’t one of the
largest amateur sites by a long shot, hell we aren’t even one of the small ones
membership wise. What we are is real, and fun… and I think our "fans" are some
of the nicest people I know. While the site isn’t about me, I do participate
behind the scenes and it is so great to see how the relationships formed there
have evolved over the years.
Community
Companies spend millions on it.. but that’s not the answer. Be real. Be
involved. Spend the time. I am proud of what we have done, and I am amazed by
what you did for me. Thank you, more than you know. Not just for the box, but
for the thought and the generosity.
And a special thanks to my girls – who made this year, like all the others,
so special. You always seem so annoyed when I say it doesn’t matter if I get
anything, but it really doesn’t matter. I just want to be able to be with
the people I care about, and do what I love to do. You make that possible, and
you support me as much as you can. Hopefully someday I will succeed well enough
to make your dreams happen as well.
