the new year post – here we go again
Well, I am out of here for a few hours. We are heading to
Tatsumi‘s house to spend the changeover with her. Her heat isn’t working and
she isn’t feeling well… I have a ton of work to do and my pack isn’t under one
roof. In some important ways it isn’t possible for me to not feel like I have
slid backwards in the last year or two.
In other ways this year looks like it has been an important and useful one.
Individually my interpersonal relationships are stronger than they were this
time last year, even if possibly the group dynamic is basically unchanged.
Tatsumi is only blocks away instead of almost an hour and my company has more
dedicated energy in it’s direction than this time last year, maybe ever.
So it looks like we are in an upswing, and the downsides? Well, I think they
might have been necessary. Nothing is ever smooth or easy, and building the
future I wish for myself is not going to be different.
This year’s resolutions:
- Start my ink. I have waited long enough, it’s time for the next link in
the chain of self construction. - Publish more in and by
The Estate. - Complete the conversion of my company away from little job consultation
work and into our own projects, with the continuing financial benefits of one
or two main contracts. I am tired of taking table scraps. - Continue my work in my Dojo. I really like teaching, I am several years
away from being a Sensei but it will come in time. I want that a lot. I like
teaching and training, and I will be dammed if I will turn away from getting
the credentials I need to do that in this. - Enhance my design skills.
- Strengthen my domain and the resources of my pack.
- Do better by those who depend on me.
- Sleep less, play more.
- I need to be a better person, slower to anger and more accurate in my
endeavors. This is an ongoing process.
That about covers it. See you next year, and let’s hope they don’t blow up
Times Square, but I am not counting on it.
Happy New Year!! and thank you all for all you’ve done for me
and the
girls this year… it helps in an odd way to know that somewhere people are
reading my words. For those who did more than that, you have my deepest
gratitude.
