Ah, the coming war. Nothing like a war to get those who miss the 60′s to dust
off their VW busses and come on out for a good folk sing-a-long. Of course, a
good number of them also happen to be
out of their minds. This topic was brought to mind by a recent
[[Metafilter]] article called "Cartooning
for peace".
Not all of them mind you – I’ll concede that there are probably some well
meaning, intelligent people of good conscience who just thing the coming war
(ok, spanking) with (of) [[wp:Iraq]] is a bad idea. Just that any time you put
up a protest flag you will get the
hangers on from every fringe group around trying to show up an achieve
"solidarity" with you… or just steal the camera time and smoke a lot of
whatever the kids call "dope" these days :)
Of course it isn’t so shocking that the "anti-war"
rallies are being
used for a whole lot of other things… given that one of the
primary organizing groups behind many of them is actually a
front for a group with strong ties to the
World Workers Party; a Stalinist/communist organization with strong anti US
and anti democracy goals. Heck, even poor
Mother Jones can’t stay silent while the
theft is in progress.
Yes ladies and gents the [[e2:Loonies]] are "in
da house". This is even more apparent when you realize that the founder of
the IAC and
director of
A.N.S.W.E.R. is [[wp:Ramesy Clark]], a former attorney general under the [[wp:Lyndon
Johnson]] administration and recently retained by [[wp:Iraq]] to serve as a
legal counsel.
A perfect case for
Niven’s Law #16 – "There is no cause so right that one cannot find a fool
following it."
Enjoy!
Ed. Note - There have been
several huge
protests on 02.15.2003 worldwide. Apparently the anti-democracy and anti-US
organizations are doing a fine job whipping up a frenzy among otherwise rational
people. I know they mean well, but they are so misguided that it is easy to use
them.
